"The talks are still on and nothing more can be said at this stage," a senior company official said.

The company had yesterday expressed hope that a solution could be reached soon as it was "favourably considering" the various demands of the strikers, including on regularisation.

As many as 2,000 contract workers at the Gurgaon plant, which has a daily average production capacity of 5,800 units, have struck work since Monday morning, bringing production to a halt.

Among other things, the workers are demanding regularisation on the basis of seniority, higher wages and benefits like medical facilities and compensatory offs.

Hero Honda has said that while regularising some of the workers, it would consider a variety of factors, including seniority, qualification, skill levels and capability.

Apart from Gurgaon, the company has a second plant at Dharuhera, also in Haryana, though production levels there are lower than the Gurgaon facility.
