COLLAGE GROUP, Delhi entered the semifinal of the sixth Manish Agnihotri memorial all-India cricket tournament beating star-studded BSNL India by 131 runs.
Medium pacer Abid Khan was the architect of Collage Group victory. He took six wickets in 6.2 overs conceding just 31 runs. There was a big crowd of cricket lovers to watch this important match at the Old Campion ground on Tuesday.
Winning the toss, Collage Group captain Harish Kumar elected to bat. The team piled up 248 runs in 40 overs losing eight wickets.
Openers Mobin Ahmad ( 28) and Farman Ahmad ( 12) laid solid foundation for the team scoring 40 runs in just five overs. When they returned to pavilion at the score of 49, Saurabh Saxena and Ashish Sharma carried forward the big start.
They added 84 runs. Ashish scored 70 runs in 54 balls, which included 11 fours and one six. Saurabh was out for 33. Pankaj Joshi (31), Sachin Choudhary (25) and Sanjay Gill ( 20 not out) also made useful contributions to the Collage Group tally.
BSNL India captain Jogindar Singh fielded eight bowlers but none proved successful. Amit took three wickets while Noyal Rana and Kamlesh Makwana took two wickets each.
Chasing the modest target, BSNL India were bundled out for 117 runs in 22.2 overs. Abid was declared ‘man of the match’. He received the award from BDCA president Dhruvnarayan Singh. Aruneshwar Singhdeo, Mahesh Manwani, Kamlesh Argal, Captain Milind Inamdar and RK Agnihotri were also present on the occasion. The last match of the quarterfinal will be played between JP Yadav Eleven and IPC Bhopal on Wednesday.
