The 1977 George Lucas movie, starring Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, was closely followed by the franchise's second film, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in the poll, reports thefemalefirst.co.uk.

Battlefield Earth, the 2000 John Travolta film about a group of humans fighting extinction by a race of aliens, was voted the worst sci-fi movie in the poll.
