Stress laid on reviving ?guru-shishya? tradition

VICE-CHANCELLOR OF DDU Gorakhpur University, Prof Arun Kumar, exhorted teachers to keep abreast of the latest research in the field of education and pass on the latest information to the students.

Prof Kumar was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding session of a two-day national seminar on emerging trends of teaching and research in life sciences, at Mahatma Gandhi Degree College.

Delivering his views on this occasion, former Vice-Chancellor Prof VM Shukla laid stress on the need for reviving the ancient tradition of guru and shishya.

He also gave awards to Sadhna Tiwari of MG PG College, Jyoti Mishra of St Andrew’s College, Zaya Fatima and Jaya Singh of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University for securing the highest marks in Zoology in their respective institutions.

Prof GS Pandey, head of department of Environmental Science at Ram Manohar Lohia University, Faizabad, was awarded Association for the Advancement of Zoology Fellowship.

He has also supervised 13 research papers of various students.

Organising secretary of the conference, Dr SP Tripathi, spoke on the occasion.

Dr GC Pandey, Dr Radheshyam and Dr Pradeep Kumar stressed the need to maintain the environmental balance and warned that any imbalance could lead to the outbreak of various diseases.
