Strike by pro-Congress service unions in Kerala

Functioning of government offices in the state have been marginally affected following the one-day strike by pro-Congress State Employees and Teachers Organisations demanding pay revision.

Functioning of government offices in the state were marginally affected following the one-day strike by pro-Congress State Employees and Teachers Organisations demanding pay revision.

The Federation of Employees and Teachers Organisations also extended support to the strike, trade union sources said.

The pay scales of state government employees and teachers should have been revised in 2002 and later in 2007, leaders of the striking unions said. But, the government in power did not do anything in this regard, they said.
