STUDENT LEADERS and present and former office bearers of different student unions and associations of Allahabad University and its constituent colleges, joined hands against the irregularities committed during the Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT) - 06.

The student leaders demanded cancellation of the entire PGAT-06 and retest in a meeting held at the AUU hall on Sunday. AUU president Ajit Kumar Yadav presided over the meeting.
The student leaders and office bearers of student unions in constituent colleges expressed unity while demanding cancellation of the PGAT and retest.
They appealed for investigation of the case by some external agency to clear the gloomy atmosphere prevailing in the varsity.
They accused that some elements in the varsity had deliberately created mischief to tarnish the image of the varsity. They said it was necessary to unveil such element to maintain the transparency and sanctity of the examinations and the varsity. The student leaders threatened to take the protest to the roads and decided to launch contact programmes in hostels, delegacies and streets to garner support.
They also demanded to increase seats in the varsity so that more of students could get higher education. They said the atmosphere in the varsity had changed due to wrong decisions taken by the V-C under the influence of some elements.

Ajit Kumar Yadav said that a meeting of former AUU presidents would be held at 4 pm on Monday to form a strategy to tackle the present situation in the varsity.
