Scores of students from various engineering colleges affiliated to MTU held a sit-in opposite the VC office located at Sector 62 in the afternoon. They were demanding re-examination of carry over exam, which was held during June-July.

The protesters claimed that more than 8,000 students have failed in carry over examinations held by MTU, but the VC is not entertaining their request.

The police resorted to lathicharge after the students did not pay heed to policemen’s requests to lift the road blockade. Students had blocked the road, affecting the traffic movement for about an hour. According to the police, nobody was injured in the lathicharge. The police said that they used it as they just wanted to disperse the crowd.

The protesters also pointed fingers at the scrutiny and copy-rechecking procedure of the university.
