Angry parents demonstrated outside the school on Tuesday demanding action against the teacher.

The school authorities, however, said they had earlier warned the boys against sporting long hair, but when they ignored repeated warnings the commerce teacher decided to take the “disciplinary step”.

Parents and guardians felt the school authorities should have consulted them before taking the step. “If my son was disobeying school discipline, they should have complained to me about it,” said one parent who did not want to be named.

“The hair cut was shabby and uneven, and we had no choice but to tonsure his head.” The school principal has assured action against the concerned teacher. “We have received a complaint from parents.

We will take necessary action against the teacher,” said school principal Nalayani.
