Tamil Nadu Governor SS Barnala has appointed D Sudharshanam, elected from Poonamalee constituency, as the speaker pro-tem.

He will take oath or affirmation on May 16 at 5 pm at the Raj Bhavan, an official release said.

The release said that the Governor has summoned the 13th state legislative assembly to meet for its first session at 9.30 am on May 17 in the assembly chamber at the secretariat.

The newly elected members will make and subscribe oath or affirmation on that day.

The election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly would be held at 9.30 am on May 19, it said.

The Governor would address the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on May 24 at 9.30 am at the assembly chamber at the secretariat, the release said.
