WEATHERMAN is not sure if the South West monsoon will hit the state earlier than expected, providing much needed relief to UPites reeling under severe sultry weather conditions. There is no hope for its early arrival, at least for the next few days, says he.
Apart from already ‘favourable’ conditions that exist for high humidity, sneaking in of advanced monsoon air has added to the humidity in the State. “While there may not be any let up in the present conditions, there is very low chances of hot conditions returning,” he says.
There is lots of ‘upper air cyclonic circulation’ hovering over the entire state and they are laden with high quantity moisture. The UACC and easterly winds are thick with moisture feed from Arabian Sea as well as Bay of Bengal, he says.
The arrival of monsoon is earlier than expected this time. It has already covered the northeastern states, Mumbai and the entire southern part of the country.
While the normal date of monsoon entering Mumbai is June 10, it has already hit Mumbai on Wednesday.
“But this progress may not continue as it is. Monsoon may get stagnant in between,” the weatherman says.
