According to an order issued by the state home department, Sinh will take up his new responsibility from Tuesday.

Sinh will succeed current DGP Nandan Dube, who retires on Tuesday.

Dube had served as state police chief for over two years.

Sinh’s appointment as OSD on September 18 had paved his way to the state DGP’s post.

A 1980 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Sinh had served as the director general police prisons before his elevation as OSD at the police headquarters.

Sinh will be the 27th DGP of Madhya Pradesh.
