Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Monday met sulking BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha at his residence, but later described it as just a “social call.”
Surjewala, who called on Sinha shortly after the Patna Sahib MP had taken a swipe at his own party, said no political significance should be attached to his visit.
“I have deep regards for Shatrughan Sinhaji. Every personal relationship can’t be viewed through a political prism. Hope media friends understand. It was just a social call,” the chief spokesperson of the opposition party said in a tweet.
The actor-turned-politician has been critical of BJP’s policies and not campaigned for the party in Bihar assembly elections so far.
Earlier in the day, Sinha said he was “upset” with the news that BJP could have done better in the first two phases of Bihar assembly polls.
Sinha also advised his party leaders, on Twitter, to shun approaching issues on the ground like “5-star press meets”.
“Time to stop approaching the issues on the ground like standard, half hearted, 5 star press meets,” he tweeted.
“Grassroot BJP workers need and deserve respect and we need to reach out to voters with humility...This is the need at the ground level,” he said in a message on the micro-blogging site.
