The fourth class employee Ayub was caught in the camera stitching and administering injection to the injured of road accidents along with the medicos and paramedical staff of the district hospital.

Intervening the matter state`s health minister Ahmad Hasan directed the additional director (health) Dr Vinod Kumar to carry out an inquiry to appraise him about the facts.

After conducting an inquiry into the matter on Monday the AD (health) seems to have given a clean chit to the chief medical superintendent (CMS) Dr Shishir Kumar and his team of the district hospital.

Ayub

"He ( Ayub) is not a sweeper but working as assistant in operation theatre since ten years. What I was told that he was put into the task with other paramedical staff to tackle the heavy inflow of injured in two separate road mishaps", told the AD, however, minced no words in admitting 'technically he can`t treat patients', adding that 'I will submit my findings to the senior officials who would take the final decision".

Maintaining that Ayub is an skilled worker of operation theatre CMS Dr Shishir , clarified' his service was taken to tackle the over rush of injured of two successive accidents occurred on July 3 and 4 emphasising " Ayub was put on task under supervision of qualified medical practitioners and paramedical staff".

But the data available with the health department shows inefficiency of health department to pin the problem.

Out of 1200 clinics being run by the quacks in Lucknow action had been taken against merely 70 quacks. The scenario is no different in other districts.

In Etah district 1085 quacks were identified, 1187 in Kanpur Nagar, 885 in Kushinagar, 1269 in Meerut, 673 in Mathura, 1085 in Agra, 1153 in Jaunpur, 4620 in Azamgarh, 1052 in Mau and 1528 in Moradabad.
