Yadav made this announcement at a function to felicitate about 1700 former members of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha since 1952.

Former MLAs currently get Rs 30,000 worth of travel coupons every year.

While former members belonging to Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP were present on this occasion, former BJP MLAS boycotted the function on the direction of the state party leadership.

The BJP had on Tuesday directed all his former members to boycott the function alleging the state government had been persecuting party leaders and implicating them in false cases.

Yadav also said the government would consider the demand of the former members for constructing a transit hostel in the state capital for their stay and increasing their pension to Rs 5000 from the existing Rs 3000.
