'Tainted' VCs in MP should be dismissed: ABVP

"Several VCs are involved in crime, corruption and unethical practices," said the state ABVP leaders.

Alleging that 'tainted persons' were holding posts of vice-chancellors despite Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar's plea for purifying the education system after the death of Prof HS Sabharwal, ABVP on Monday demanded review of the activities of professors as part of the 'cleansing process'.

"Several vice-chancellors are involved in crime, corruption and unethical practices. We humbly ask the Governor Jakhar to dismiss these tainted persons," state ABVP leaders Sunil Ambekar and Vishnu Dutt Sharma said at a press meet conference in Bhopal.

"If the Governor (who is the chancellor of state varsities) wants to purify the education system, he should also review activities of college professors and principals, apart from that of students."

On why the organisation raised these allegations when the controversy was raging over Sabharwal's death, they said the Ujjain incident had sparked debate on student activism and they found it necessary to review the activities of professors.

Alleging that ABVP leaders, Shashiranjan Akela and Vimal Tomar, were falsely implicated in the death of Sabharwal during the elections at Madhav College on August 26, the duo threatened to launch an agitation if cases against them were not withdrawn.

Accusing the administration of buckling under Congress' pressure in acting against its workers, ABVP demanded a CID probe into an alleged attack on another Madhav College Professor ML Nath during a staff council meeting.
