Ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday appealed to the Centre to take steps on a war-footing to check rising prices of essential commodities, especially items of daily use.

"The soaring prices of essentials, especially daily use items have made life of the people miserable. I appeal to the Central government to take steps on war-footing to bring prices of essentials down," NC general secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad said in a statement in Srinagar.
He said increase in prices of rice; edible oil, pulses, vegetables and other essentials have made lives of people miserable.
