Teacher accused of seeking bribe, failing students

Seventeen students of government high school at Moghla in Kalakot tehsil has alleged that a science teacher failed them in practical exams as the could not pay him Rs 200 that he had demanded from each of them.

Seventeen students of government high school at Moghla in Kalakot tehsil has alleged that a science teacher failed them in practical exams as the could not pay him Rs 200 that he had demanded from each of them.

While the students have cleared the theory paper in the results declared by J&K Board of Secondary Education resently, they all have failed in practical exams.

Shocked to see their results declared by the board, the students, who belong to poor families, brought the issue to the notice of local activists and political leaders. On Wednesday, a delegation of social activists and students met deputy commissioner Fakir Chand Bhagat and apprised him of the incident.

Bhagat said it was a serious matter and no teacher would be allowed to do such a shameful act and play with the future of the students. "After having a word with the students, I have instructed the chief education officer to investigate the matter and submit a report within 10 days.
