A 52-year-old teacher molested a minor girl student at a government school in Barmer and threatened to expel her from the school if she discussed the issue with her parents.

The parents of the victim lodged an FIR with the Pachpadra police on Friday after the girl divulged what the teacher did to her in the classroom on September 16.

The police said the girl had identified the teacher as Narpat Singh, who works with Rewada Mayyia secondary school in Barmer, about 550 km from Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur.

He said the victim’s statement would be recorded and presented before the magistrate soon.

The school administration reported the matter to the higher authorities. Balotara sub-divisional magistrate Udaybhan Charan and block education officer (BEO) Hukmaram Bheel rushed to the school and removed the teacher till fresh orders.
