GOVERNOR BALRAM Jakhar on Thursday said the situation in villages is still deplorable and scientific and technological knowledge should be used for uplift of rural life. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the State Level Rural Science Exhibition, the Governor said after seeing the models prepared by students from rural areas, he was confident of good future in this direction.
The Governor gave away awards to the best models and to the winners of the school magazine competition organised by the MP Board of Secondary Education at the conclusion of the three-day exhibition at the Ravishankar Nagar community hall on Thursday.
Tejendra Narayan Singh and Nitin Dev of Badwani bagged the first prize for presenting a model of producing petroleum products from lemon and orange peels.
Second prize went to Rohit Kochar and Dharmendra Golendra of Balaghat for their model of ‘automatic drinker’ while Ram Kishan Ramdev and Nitin Upadhayay of Jabalpur bagged third prize for self-controlled inspection system.
The Governor said this the age of science and the time of using manual agriculture implements is over and that he was happy to see the scientific temper in rural youth.
He said in this competitive age, we would have to use science and technology at all levels and only then we would be able to reap the benefits of the innovations.

{{/usCountry}}Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Vice-Chancellor Prof P B Sharma, who was also present, promised all help for turning the three best models of the competition into workable condition.
Chairman of the board U K Samal said the competition is being organised since 1994-95 and includes district-level award winning models. Additional secretary of board Neeraj Dubey proposed the vote of thanks. The Governor saw models and interacted with the students.
