The people of Babu Patti, the native village of late Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Pratapgarh have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of Teji Bachchan in Mumbai this afternoon.
Babu Sharda Prasad Srivastav, a cousin of Bachchan, said that though his sister-in-law (Teji Bachchan) had never visited Babu Patti she had showed great love and respect towards all the members of the family whenever they got an opportunity to meet her.
Srivastav said that even after the death of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Teji Bachchan had maintained some sort of ties with the village which he feared could be lost now with her death.
He, however, hoped that her daughter-in-law, Jaya Bachchan would maintain the link as promised by her during her visit to Pratapgarh last year.
Another member of the family Beenu Lata said that Teji Bachchan had always welcomed all the members of her in-laws' family whenever they had visited them in Mumbai.
