Telengana activists attack houses of Cong, TDP lawmakers

Hyderabad and the other ten districts continued to be in a state of seize with all activities coming to a halt. The TJAC has called for a bandh in Hyderabad on Friday, which will bring the city to grind again.

As the general strike entered 17th day, the protestors targeted lawmakers of two main parties, Congress and TDP. In Hyderabad the activists laid siege to the houses of labor minister Danam Nagender and half-a-dozen ruling party MLAs, branding them traitors of Telangana. Police intervened and arrested over 200 activists including few lawyers.

The agitators also pelted stones at TDP Telangana legislators forum members near Baswapur village as they were proceeding to Banswada in Nizamabad district to participate in the by-election. The TDP legislators and their followers retaliated leading to clashes and police had to intervene.

Though the plan will help create two states with 21 Lok Sabha seats each and take care of the objections of Majlis-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) party, which favours the merger of the said two districts with large Muslim population with Telangana, there is a very strong reservation to the idea from large sections of people both in Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Many Telangana leaders have already conveyed their reservation to KCR. TDP leaders said that KCR has floated the idea with a definite political agenda and warned the people not to fall for the game.
