Telgi, who was earlier hospitalised for a day on February 8, was brought to the Sassoon General Hospital for a routine medical check-up in the morning, as there was no much change in his condition since then, and was subsequently admitted, official sources said.

Telgi is in the midst of giving a confessional statement in a 1995 stamps seizure case.

From Sassoon Hospital, Telgi, a HIV positive and diabetic, was taken to the KEM Hospital for a MRI test and its report is still awaited, the sources said.

A three-member team of doctors from the hospital on the direction of the special court in Mumbai, hearing the case, had on Friday conducted a medical check-up of the accused in his cell at the Yerawada Central Jail, where he has been lodged.

The doctors said it was important to monitor for atleast eight days the sugar level and blood pressure of Telgi.

Telgi, in his two days of inconclusive confession before Pune's CJM DW Modak, had recorded around 83 pages of statement on February six and seven last.
