The temporary teachers said they were being exploited for the last 12 years as they were not paid salary as per norms. They allege that they are also given late appointments and terminated before time. The norms of the University Grants Commission (UGC) are being ignored in this respect.

The association recently met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Higher Education Minister and submitted them memoranda of demands. The Chief Minister and the Minister reportedly assured to solve their problems before the start of the Budget session. However, the Government has not initiated any action so far, it alleged.

This year too, the temporary teachers and other staff were terminated on February 10 and 14 instead of February 28 as per the norm. The association alleged that the government is trying to spike the agitation. But it would have no effect and the agitation would continue, association spokesman Vinod Kumar Mishra said.
