Around 60 students of standard eighth of Abhinav English medium school were under observation after a batch of five students was found positive for the virus on July 16.

The virus apparently spread after a boy returned from the US under a cultural exchange programme earlier this month, officials said.

Medical Officer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), R R Pardesi said all swine flu cases were being treated at the quarantined ward of Naidu hospital and there was no cause for panic as the patients were responding satisfactorily.

"This is not a virulent strain of the virus and can be treated effectively in most of the cases," he added.
