Tension in Baramulla after stabbed youth dies

Tension gripped North Kashmir's Baramulla districts after death of a student outside a tuition centre in the area. Reports said that Irshad Ahmad Gani an undergraduate students was allegedly stabbed to death after an altercation with another group of students.

Reports said that Irshad Ahmad Gani an undergraduate students was allegedly stabbed to death after an altercation with another group of students.

The news of death was followed by protest and shutdown.

Gani, a resident of Ushkara, area of the town was stabbed allegedly by another student Irfan Ahmad Bhat, a resident of old town Baramulla.

"There was some argument between two groups of students, and one student was killed. Another who reportedly stabbed him was later arrested,'' said a police spokesman.

While the family, which is demanding stern action against the accused, has also alleged district hospital doctors were slow in referring the victim to a super specialty hospital.

"The doctors in the hospital said he was fine and did not attend to him properly,'' said Gani's cousin Ghulam Rasool.

"His friends, who were with him during the incident, said he had a very minor argument with Irfan but was stabbed from behind,'' he added.
