Tension in Mau after student shot dead

Hundreds of students and lawyers have come out on the street to protest the killing.

Tension prevailed in the city on Wednesday after a student was shot dead by unidentified persons in Mau, police said.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when some assailants shot dead Ankit Kumar Soni, son of a lawyer and office bearer of the district Ramlila committee, they said.

Soni is a student of Talimuddin Inter College in Mau.

Hundreds of students and lawyers have come out on the street to protest the killing and have even attempted to torch a police vehicle, they said.
