A constant stream of visitors to the Sonepur waited for an audience with astrologer Hiraman – a parrot.

His owner, Gopichand Mishra claimed that his parrot had undergone training in astrology at Pashu Pakshi Madhyama Training, Varanasi and has cleared Madhyama (equivalent of matriculation) in astrology under the tutelage of renowned astrologer Kailash Nath Upadhyay of Varanasi. This pandit also specializes in training animals and birds at his institute – Pashu aur Pakshi Madhyama Training School.

“The renowned astrologer-cum trainer of animals and birds Kailash Nath Upadhay of Varanasi had trained Hiraman for three months and 13 days and then declared it to have cleared Madhayama (equivalent of matriculation) in astrology,” said Gopichanda Mishra.

Hirman has earned for his owner Rs 3 lakh in the last 19 years. While the training and education cost Upadhyaya a mere Rs 9,000, Mishra said.

“Hirman is an expert in advising and selecting stones,” said Mishra.
