The BCCI on Saturday decided that Ahmedabad would host the third India-Sri Lanka Test from December 18-22 in case Kanpur is unable to host it as per the original schedule.

"We received a letter on Saturday from Rajiv Shukla (Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association) saying that they were ready to host the match provided the state government released the stadium," BCCI vice-president Shashank Manohar said after the meeting of its Tours Programmes and Fixtures Committee.

Asked about the deadline given to UPCA to get the stadium released for the match, Manohar - the Chairman of the sub-committee - said the issue would now be decided by the BCCI's Working Committee on Sunday.

"We can't take a decision on this. We can only suggest the venues," said Manohar. He also said in case Ahmedabad gets the chance to host the Test against Sri Lanka, then the Test match it was scheduled to host against England in March, 2006 would be held at Mohali.

"If Mohali gets to host the Test against England then the one-day tie against the same opponents scheduled there in April would be moved to Jamshedpur," Manohar said, adding the other Test and ODI venues remained the same.

The other two Tests are to be held at Nagpur and Mumbai while Madhya Pradesh (Indore), Goa, Mohali/Jamshedpur, Delhi, Guwahati, Kochi and Faridabad would be the ODI centres for the England tour.
