Residents of Avadhanapatti village near in Krishnagiri were shocked to find the village lake afloat with dead fish, snakes and other amphibians. The poisoned fish was worth Rs four lakh.

Police suspect that the lake may have been poisoned by one of the groups, quarreling over the leasing rights for fishing.

The two groups were earlier at loggerheads over appointing a priest in a local temple.

The miscreants might have mixed the poison in the lake on Sunday, police said.
