Up for grabs were 13,500 tickets for the public, including 1,500 for women, in the stadium with a capacity of 45,000.
The overenthusiastic fans were uncontrollable at times and police had a tough time to restore order. Barricades put up to segregate them from roads were targeted and grounded.
Tickets were sold out within a couple of hours, Karnataka State Cricket Association officials said.
