According to reports reaching in Nagpur on Wednesday, Srihari Laxman Magre (50) of Katwal village fell victim when he was searching his missing bulls in the jungle-- a buffer zone of Tadoba Tiger project. The tiger dragged Srihari into deep forest. The villagers later recovered the body this afternoon, the reports said.

"We were unable to ascertain the animal that killed him as the terrain where dead body was found is hilly hence no pugmark could be traced. However, the injury marks found on the neck and the thigh of the victim suggest it could be the work of a big cat, like tiger," said Niranjan Vivrekar, the acting field director of Tadoba Tiger reserves, who visited the site on Wednesday.

Around 31 people were killed in tiger attacks in the district since 2007 while villagers killed 11 tigers either by poisoning or trapping. One tiger was killed by the forest department when it became a man-eater.
