The LDF, which raised accusing fingers at everyone, was steeped in corruption, embroiled in scam after scam and thrived on the largeheartedness of lottery and liquor mafia, she said in Harippad (Alapuzha) where PCC chief Ramesh Chennithala is seeking election.

“In five years of LDF rule Kerala lagged behind in many sectors. It is time to change for the better. The UDF will usher in a new beginning, an era of all-round prosperity,” she said.

Taking potshots at CPM she said the party always lived in its past and never moved with the time. When Rajiv Gandhi introduced computers they ridiculed him calling a ‘computer boy.’ When other states surged ahead Kerala lagged behind, she said blaming the left-turn for many ills plaguing the state.

She said when the shores of Kerala were ravaged by tsunami waves in 2004, the union government had extended full support to the state. But the state failed to make use of the funds. She added that the same callousness was visible in implementing the Rs 1,840 crore Kuttanad package for farmers upliftment.
