Tamil Nadu would see a repeat of 2004 Lok Sabha poll results in the May 8 assembly elections, with opposition parties sweeping the polls, CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat claimed on Saturday.

In the last Lok Sabha polls, the DMK-led alliance won all the 39 seats in the state.

Referring to the CPI-M, Karat said it (contesting in 13 seats in the state) would increase its representation in the House. The party will release its manifesto by month-end.

Terming the AIADMK government as "authoritarian" with "contempt" for parliamentary democracy, he said it was totally "anti-working class" and "mismanaging" for the last four-and-a-half-years, by "indulging in repressive and intolerant attitude" towards opposition parties.

On MDMK joining AIADMK alliance, he said "it was for Vaiko to explain."

About the strategy for five states going to the polls, Karat said the main aim is to retain West Bengal for a record seventh time, that too with two-thirds majority and in Kerala, to defeat the Congress-led UDF and bring LDF to power.

He also said that in Assam, it was fighting both the Congress and BJP and cooperating with the Asom Gana Parishad.

The CPI(M) would be the party with largest number of seats put together after the elections, he claimed.
