Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to see to the shooting skills of police chiefs of the country and therefore, for the last three days, top IPS officers of the country are heading to the shooting range of Assam police to see how accurate their marksmanship is.

"The firing range of 4th battalion of Assam police at Kahilipara was selected for the purpose. It also helped that dinner was hosted at battalion complex only, so before dinner around two dozen IPS officers checked their shooting skills. Some of them, who missed their chance on Thursday and Friday went on Saturday as well," said a senior police official involved with the arrangements.

Sources said the Assam police has been asked to keep an account of bullets used by an official and his score as well. "The score tally will be presented to the Prime Minister when comes to address the meet on Sunday," said the official.

The prime ministerial initiative has been liked by the police chiefs as well.

A paramilitary chief said it was a 'good' experience. "It gave something new to talk about," laughed the official.
