According to the concessionaire firm, the traffic volume at this point had declined from about 10,000 vehicles to a mere 3,000 vehicles a day.

"The traffic on the IGI loop, with a six-lane toll plaza, has been decreasing as commuters have the option of reaching the airport through other routes without paying toll tax. We may close down the plaza if the trend continues," said Manoj Aggarwal, the CEO of Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity, the firm that manages the expressway.

The charges at this toll plaza are less compared to charges at other expressway toll plazas. A car owner has to shell out R14 here per trip while he has to pay Rs21 at the Delhi border and Rs27 at Kherki Daula toll gates.
