In a major development, the Maharashtra government dismissed Mumbai's top police encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma from service early on Sunday, according to a police official.
Sharma was served the dismissal order at his residence at 1 a.m. on Sunday.

He has been accused of having links with the underworld, corruption and amassing huge properties in his name among other things.
In his 25-year career with the Mumbai Police, Sharma has shot dead 107 criminals.
