Traffic on the busy Surajkund road remained blocked for almost two hours after a loaded container skidded off the road this morning.
The traffic police used its SMS alert service, advising people to avoid this road for an hour.
However, commuters stranded due to the jam, blamed the traffic police for allowing the heavy vehicles to ply on Surajkund road when, in fact, the Mathura road was meant for such traffic.
“I had to go to Delhi but was caught in the heavy traffic jam on Surajkund road in the morning,” said I P Matta, a resident of Sector 21 in Faridabad.
“At around 7.30 am, the loaded canter coming from Delhi skidded off the road near Siddhdhata Temple, due to which traffic remained jammed for some time,” ACP Traffic Ram Kumar said.
Asked if the canters should be on this road when NH-2 was meant for them, Kumar said, “Canters or big vehicles are not banned on this road.”
