A trainee pilot of Bangladesh Air Force was killed when his aircaft crashed on Monday in the country's west, defence sources said.

Cadet pilot Taniul Islam was killed instantly when the PT-6 aircraft he was flying crashed into a field in Jessore district, they said.

Islam was to graduate from the Air Force Academy, media reports said adding that the aircraft was on a training flight.
Senior officers have rushed to the spot. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
