Many IAS officers are sore over the transfers. In the absence of a transfer policy, officers were being transferred on whims of politicians. The officers, particularly the younger lot, have urged their seniors, as well as the office-bearers of the IAS Officers’ Association, to raise issues adversely affecting officers and their efficiency. They have demanded fixed tenure postings and laid down criterion for transfers.

Mid-term transfers, some of the officers said, not only disturbed family life but also affected education of their children.

Housing problem is yet another issue that officers want to raise. A large number of houses in government colonies, which are meant for officers, have been allotted to politicians and junior officers with good political connections senior are either not getting accommodation or allotted houses meant for officers of junior rank.

Meanwhile, the IAS Week started informally here on Thursday with painting, quiz, photo and flower decoration competitions held at the CSI. Family members, including children of the IAS officers, who have come to attend the meet from different parts of the State, participated in large number in the various competitions and programmes.

A music programme was also organised in the evening at the CSI. The traditional service dinner will be hosted by the IAS Officers’ Association at the MB Club on Friday, while officers would hold close-door discussions at the AGM.
