Trees to be removed for smooth traffic

THE COORDINATION committee for betterment of traffic has identified trees on major road junctions of City for felling to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

The committee consists of senior officials from district administration, police department, Indore Municipal Corporation, Indore Development Authority, Western Region Power Distribution Company (MPEB), Public Works Department in addition to Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma.

At its recent meeting presided over by Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das, the police department said it would put an application for felling trees at Geeta Bhavan Junction, Palasia Junction, Palasia thana, GPO, Saket before Tree Officer (Municipal Commissioner) to remove obstruction on left turning at these places.

According to presentation made by traffic department at the meeting, 32 trees are an obstruction on both sides of the road at Saket. Similarly, two to three trees that are affecting road width need to be felled at Palasia, Geeta Bhavan, Patrakar Colony junctions. Then about 10 trees will be axed on road from Greater Kailash Nursing Home to Saket.

The committee decided that florists and fruit vendors who have affected road width would also be shifted. This road has been selected under bond project.
