Two tremors of moderate intensity on Thursday struck several parts of Gujarat and Mumbai within a gap of nearly six years. People rushed out their homes in panic, official sources said.

The tremors were felt by people living in Kutch and parts of Ahmedabad city, the sources added.
The first tremor, measuring 4.7 on Richter Scale struck at 5.33 pm and the second at 11.29 pm with the intensity of 5.5, the Met department said.
The waves of these tremors were felt as far as Mumbai at around 11.30 pm. The affected areas included the western suburbs of Versova, Andheri and Ville Parle, Sion in central part of the metropolis and Kalyan in the northern.
Earlier after the first tremor, Kutch district collector PN Sharma had said, "There are no reports of any damage from any part of Kutch."
