POLITICAL AND students’ organisations took out processions, held meetings and paid floral tributes to freedom fighters on the 65th anniversary of the Quit India Movement here on Wednesday.

Chhatra Lok Janshakti (CLJ) activists took out a vehicle procession from Katra to Chowk and offered floral tributes to freedom fighters at a Neem tree on the occasion of Kranti-Diwas. Iqbal announced the CLJ would launch a State-wide agitation against the government. Party activists will gherao the Vidhan Bhawan on September 30.
Those present on the occasion were Prayag Rai, Umesh Pandey, Naseem Ahmed, Brijesh Singh, JP Yadav, Karan Srivastava, Amit Rai, Prateek Singh and Kamlesh Singh, among others.
The District Congress Committee held a meeting under the leadership of its president Prof Amar Nath Mishra. Mishra said the Congress would not let the sacrifices of freedom fighters go in vain. The party would fight corruption, social evils and casteism, he said.
