“Commissioner of the Food department B K Roy has been put on compulsory wait and relieved of all duties,” Commissioner General Administration Department, M N Sinha said on Saturday.

Home department sources said the judicial inquiry by a retired judge of Guwahati High Court P K Sarkar was ordered yesterday and he has been asked to submit his report by next month.

The action against Roy came after the All Tripura Engineers Association met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and demanded a thorough probe into the death of the woman, a stenographer. The Association alleged the Commissioner had exploited her sexually for long.
