Army troops shot dead two terrorists and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in two separate operations in Baramulla and Badgam districts, a defence spokesman said on Wednesday.

Two terrorists were killed in a two-hour gun battle at Kudara in Babapora forest in Baramulla on Tuesday evening, the spokesman said.

Two AK assault rifles, six magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the deceased ultras, whose identity and group affiliation is being ascertained.

In another operation, the spokesman said troops recovered two AK assault rifles, a pistol, two under barrel grenade launchers, two radio sets and three remote control IED from Treram in Badgam district.

The weapons were buried by terrorists under a tree and were unearthed during a detailed search of the village, he said.

Meanwhile, officials said two persons including a woman were arrested by security forces from Handwara area of Kupwara district on Tuesday.
