Twitter can’t get enough of Modi’s date with his Tussauds wax self

Madame Tussauds unveiled four wax replicas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. To go with it, they also released a video from Modi’s private viewing of one of the statues, and Twitter hasn’t stopped chattering yet.

You can always count on Twitter to up the humour, no matter how politically incorrect or impolite. This means everyone is fair game, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

So, when a minute-odd long video which showed Modi admiring his wax replica hit the liberal world of the internet, Twitterati were quick on the uptake.

Prime Minster Narendra Modi's wax statue installed at Singapore’s Madame Tussauds museum on Wednesday. Two more of his statues were installed in Hong Kong and Bangkok while one of them will be put up in London in the next eight days.

Three Modi wax statues, created by the British wax museum Madame Tussauds, were unveiled at on Wednesday at Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. A fourth will be unveiled in London next week. Modi, however, was given a private viewing of the statue earlier this week. The video, released by Madame Tussauds HK, is from this session.

From cheeky to prude, the comments pick on some Modi-isms, including his foreign trips, his ‘pin-striped’ suit that was actually lined with the words Narendra Modi, and earlier social media jokes on Modi’s seeming affinity for the camera.

Buzzfeed went a step forward and did a retelling of the recently released Shah Rukh Khan movie Fan, using stills from the video. The result: It’s hilarious. (Oh, and spoiler alert if you haven’t seen the film yet.)

Madame Tussauds has quite a few Indian personalities in their house(s) of wax. Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan are some of the more prominent names that feature in their list.
