Two jawans of the CRPF were killed Monday afternoon, when they were trying to diffuse a landmine planted by the Maoists in Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency to disturb the first phase of elections on April 10.
Seven other security personnel, including the station house officer of Dhibra police station, were injured in the incident.
Confirming the incident, Bihar chief secretary A K Sinha said the seven injured security personnel had been airlifted from the site of occurrence and were being brought to the Patna medical college hospital.
Many of them were said to be in critical condition.
The incident took place at Branda mor - 1 km off from Dhibra police station (55 km from Aurangabad town) around 2.45 pm, when the security personnel were diffusing the landmine after detecting it.
The identity of the deceased has not been revealed.
The blast came just three days before polling day, reminding the state police administration of the challenge it faces as it gears up for the first phase of elections in six parliamentary constituencies of Bihar.
All six seats, namely, Sasaram, Karakat, Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada and Jamui, have significant Maoist presence and ultras have given a call for poll boycott in all these areas.

{{/usCountry}}In a related development, two powerful bombs were recovered by security forces from near a primary school in a village in Gaya district, on Monday.
The bombs were unearthed by sniffer dogs during a joint operation by the CRPF and the police, in Viraj village under Kothi police station in Gaya parliamentary constituency, superintendent of police, Nishant Kumar Tiwari said.
The bombs, weighing 20 kg, were defused by a bomb disposal squad, he said, adding that they were planted by Maoists to disrupt the polls.
