Nalanda hooch tragedy: CCA to be invoked against accused

Amid widespread outrage over the suspected hooch tragedy has left 13 people dead so far since Friday last, top officials of the Bihar government on Monday visited Nalanda and directed the local police too book all accused under the stringent Crime Control Act (CCA) and ensure an expeditious trial of the case, police sources said.

84-yr-old man who took ‘12 shots’ of Covid vaccine surrenders, gets bail

The 84-year-old man from Bihar’s Madhepura district, who was on the run after being booked by police following his claims that he had so far taken 12 shots of Covid-19 vaccine, against the norm of two, surrendered himself with the local police station on Monday and was granted bail immediately, superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Kumar said.

Bihar begins to set up police posts in premises sealed after liquor haul

Under all-round fire for easy availability of liquor in the state where total prohibition was imposed in April 2016, the Bihar government has moved ahead with its plans to open police pickets and stations in the premises from where liquor is recovered, a top police officer said.

Three sentenced to life, five get 10-yr-RI in 2018 Bodh Gaya IED blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court, Patna, on Friday awarded life sentences to three out of nine terrorists of the Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), while five were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for their involvement in the IED explosion in Bodh Gaya in 2018.
