"The two Maoists were injured in the encounter at Chowka that lasted for one-and-a-half hour. Blood stains were noticed on the spot and the villagers saw the injured being carried away by the Maoists," Superintendent of Police Abhisekh Kumar said.

The gunfight broke out when a patrol team of police and CRPF personnel at Hesakocha jungle were attacked by the guerrillas on Wednesday, prompting the security forces to retaliate, Kumar said.

A gun, some ammunition and a motorcycle were seized from the spot, he said.
