The Uttarakhand board results declared on Wednesday morning presented a queer case of gender equality. Girls bagged the top three positions in the Class XII examinations, while boys occupied the top spots at the matriculate level.
Priyanka Bhatt of SGSSVMIC Kusumkhera-Nainital topped the Class XII boards with 95% marks, followed by Vijay Laxmi Goswami of PPSVMIC Nanakmatta-US Nagar with 94.20%, and Reena of AVMIC Gopeshwar-Chamoli with 93.60%.
The top three positions in the Class X boards were taken by Prashansha Pokhriyal of the MP Hindu College-Ramnagar with 97%, Prabhakar Singh of Ranikhet in Almora with 96.8% and Vipul Verma of Kotdwar in Pauri with 96.6% marks.

The pass percentage for Class X was 73.47%, an increase of 2.97% when compared to 70.68% in 2015. Similarly, the pass percentage for XII was 78.41%, up by 3.87% from the previous year (74.54%).
Of the 1,33,064 (1,23,136 regular and 9,928 private) students who appeared for the XII exams held between March 3 and April 3, around 1,04,346 (98,950 regular, 5,396 private) passed. Of these, 65,602 were boys and 67,462 were girls.

{{/usCountry}}The pass percentage of boys was 73.55% (48,254), 3.08% higher than 2015, and that of girls was 83.14% (56,092), up by 4.33%.
The pass percentage of scheduled caste students was 74.30%, while that of scheduled tribe students was 77.66%. The figure for other backward class stood at 75.10%.
Bageshwar district topped with the highest passing percentage of 86.56% while Haridwar recorded the lowest at 67.88%.
As many as 1,62,865 (1,56,537 regular, 6,328 private) students appeared for the Class X examinations, of which 1,19,667 (1,17,135 regular, 2,532 private) passed. Of these, 82,434 were boys and 80,431 were girls.
The pass percentage for boys stood at 70.48% (58,104), while the figure was 76.54% (61,563) for girls. This amounted to a 5.4% improvement for boys when compared to the previous year, but a mere 0.05% for their female counterparts.
Students from Rudraprayag district were the top scorers with 82.89% while those from Haridwar found themselves at the bottom with 65.53%.
The pass percentage of scheduled caste students was 65.03%, while that of scheduled tribes and other backward class stood at 73.6% and 72.34% respectively.
The results were declared at the Uttarakhand School Education headquarters in Ramnagar.
