Aditya Thackeray knows what’s in a name.
The son of Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray plans to use his surname for the betterment of the city.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Aditya, who recently launched his NGO ‘The Dream we share’, said: “I am aware that whatever I do will be viewed in a political light due to my family background, but at the same time, I look at it as a blessing.”
“If my presence matters, I will certainly use it,” he added.
Aditya’s NGO in collaboration with the NGO, ‘I Love Mumbai’, will conduct a host of activities aimed at improving the city.
Aditya, a Class 12 student of St Xavier’s College, said some issues like safeguarding the 12 endangered archeological sites in Mumbai and addressing the menace of spitting would be looked into.
“I will lead a delegation of youngsters to the authorities. I am sure they will listen to us,” he said.
Aditya, who released a musical album titled Ummeed last year, said that the idea to launch the NGO occurred when he took an hour to reach Bandra from Altamount road.
“The youth can really contribute to society. I am just offering a platform,” said Aditya.
His NGO will organise programmes such as planting of 2 lakh saplings, discouraging the use of hazardous materials during the Ganeshotava and starting a helpline during the monsoon.
